Abstract
|

|
The height, weight, and chest, head and upper arm circumference of children, 5,407 males and 5,228 females, in Chonbuk area were measured from April to July 1985. All data were analyzed and following result according to age and sex were obtained.
1. Mean and standard deviation of height, weight, and chest, head and upper arm circumference in relation to age and sex were given in Table 1 & 2.
2. Mean values in male were generally higher than in female especially after 16 year of age.
3. Adolescent spurt showed between 10 and 12 year of age, and between 12 and 14 year of age in male, and during this p3riod female mean values were higher than male.
4. The growth of head circumference was reached about 85% of those of 20 year of age as early as 2 year of age.
5. Comparing with the data of Korean children at 1965 & 1975. our mean values were higher than those especially in height and weight.
6. Growth curves of mean values of height and weight were showed between 50th and 75th percentile growth curves of Korean at 1975 grossly.
7. From birth to 2 year of age, urban children higher values slightly than rural children.
